Sea of Stars, Maldives

Vaadhoo Island is one of  thy  popular group of islands which are considered as the heaven on Earth. This island has lots of surprises specialties which are revealed at night time. The splendid water in the sea just looks like a reflection in the mirror reflecting  the stars sparkling from above the sky.

The Vadoo Island is located on the equator to the south west of Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean of Maldives which id a unique place for an unforgettable experience. The glowing in the dark is generally an natural phenomena which is very rare. The water in the beach looks like a mirror for the stars and  the sky where it glows in blue from bio luminescence. The bacteria in the sea gives a beautiful visual effect that mirrors the sky with stars at night.

This natural and wonderful phenomena is due to a species of plankton which emits the blue light because their cell membranes which has the ability of responding to the electric signals and glow which offers a good mechanism for how the algae can create their unique illumination. The light created by planktons are concentrated in the beach edges and they are big enough to view from distant.

The Sea of Stars is just such a rare sight to view from the shore. Also some organisms under the sea also glow due to this mainly some creatures which live at depths where light from the surface has less chance to penetrate there. Every wave coming to the shore is lit up like  lighting sheets. The view may look like an alien has washed up on a beach but the case is entirely different as it is a natural phenomena. When people walk across the sand near the shore of the sea due to the pressure. The light glows in shore also which gives an amazing feeling.

Due to the glow during night time there is also a side effect which affects in blooming of red algae also known as red tide. It turns the entire beach into red and somewhat dim during the day time. The chemical process in this beach used as a defense mechanism to distract or confuse the predators. This glowing effect usually occurs in the end of spring and summer.
