Atlantic Ocean Road in Norway is a fantastic
and spectacular road and is also very popular tourist attraction. Both the
local population and tourist visitors frequently use the road to go fishing for
cod and other fish directly from the bridges. There is a special bridge which
is specially designed for fishing purpose. The curvy road arches and the dips
of this road over the brutal Norwegian Sea as it winds its way across number of
tiny islands connecting the communes of Eide and Averoy. It is the most
frequently photographed location of the Atlantic Ocean Road. It called as road
to nowhere. It is called so because when it is photographed at an angle it can
be seen that the bridge is nowhere and it is going directly into Norwegian Sea.
The Atlantic road is located in the mid west part of Norwegian coastline. The
road with a length of 8274 meters is a part of Norwegian National Roads. The Atlantic road
links the towns of Kristiansund and Molde. These are the two main populated cities
in the county of More. The road starts approximately 30 kilometers southwest of
Kristiansund and ends at 47 kilometers
north of Molde. This bridge offers on of the popular tourist attraction in
Norway.
This bridge was first proposed during the early
20th century. At that time the planning of the Rauma line to connect
the National highway to More og Romsdal. Was under taking. Many other proposals
were under discussion to extend its coastal towns, during the year 1921. The More
og Rmsdal country council choose the outer route, which will follow the
nnatonal Highway close to that of the road. In the year 1935 the parliament of
Norway decided to connect the coastal towns in More og
Romsdal to Andalsnes by
road instead of rail. The schematics and planning for a road began developing
in the 1970’s but construction not yet started until August 1, 1983.
The drive along this Atlantic Ocean Road is
like having a journey on the edge of the sea. This road is one of the spectacular
roads in the world and is being attracted by the sea view and the curves dips
arches that makes one to feel whether we are going into the sea. The engineers
of had done a great job in the construction and made it being unique of this
type. The road which looks like a roller coaster curvy bridges and phenomenal
views have made it a favorite drive through for the people who love travelling
on roads and motorcyclists. It was also designated a Cultural Heritage Site and
it is also considered as a National Tourist Route. It has been recognized as the
Norwegian Construction of the century.
